The biggest name in travel holds only 4.5% of the AI shelf

We asked four AI models to research fifteen travel and hospitality brands. The models returned 404 brand choices. They named 153 different brands. The largest single holding is 18 of those choices.

The AI Shelf — audited brands in colour, every other brand in a stepped grey.

No travel brand owns this category in machine memory. The models spread their answers thin. A brand wins here by taking a bigger slice of a shelf that nobody controls.

The 15 audited brands hold 26.5% of the shelf

The models give the rest to names outside the audited set. Singapore Airlines takes 13 choices. Southwest Airlines takes 11. Belmond, Delta Air Lines and Intrepid Travel take 10 each. G Adventures, Rosewood and Six Senses take 9 each.

111 brands hold a third of the shelf between them

The models name 86 brands exactly once. Those single mentions account for 21% of all choices. The models name a further 25 brands exactly twice, for another 12%. Together these 111 brands hold 34% of the shelf. A third of the shelf sits in that long tail.
